7 Things To Do On A Canton to Cleveland Ohio Road Trip

If you are looking for a great weekend getaway from Western Pennsylvania, you must consider Northeast Ohio. A great route is from Canton to Cleveland. These two popular cities are located about 60 miles from each other and offer something for everyone whether you like museums or sightseeing cruises. I recently did this road trip at the beginning of July 2026 and had a wonderful time. Here are seven things that I did on my Canton to Cleveland road trip that I recommend anyone add to their itinerary. I really enjoyed going on this road trip because the cities are a short drive from each other and offer a lot of things to do to keep you busy. This list is in the order that I did it on my trip.

Pro Football Hall of Fame - Canton, Ohio

The Pro Football Hall of Fame is the hall of fame and museum for pro football. Its primary focus is on the National Football League and all of its 32 teams. Visitors will learn about the history of pro football dating back to the 1920s. One of my favorite parts of the hall of fame was the Hall of Fame Gallery. Here you will find all of the bronze busts of everyone who has been inducted into the hall of fame. This includes players, coaches, owners, and office personnel. Plan on spending three hours or more here as there is a lot to take in. Tickets for the Pro Football Hall of Fame cost $49.55 and can be purchased online or in person.

MAPS Air Museum - North Canton, Ohio

MAPS Air Museum in North Canton, Ohio is a great aviation museum if you are into aviation or military history. Visitors will find that this museum has over 50 aircraft on display from different time periods. Inside the hangar there are a bunch of displays about aviation history. Most of the aircraft are on the tarmac. It was awesome walking through the doors and seeing the aircraft and exhibits on display. My favorite aircraft were the Goodyear Blimp, F-14 Tomcat, and Lockheed C-130H “Hercules”. If you take the elevator upstairs you will find the Ohio Military Museum. This museum includes artifacts and information about Ohio’s military history dating back to the War of 1812. Adult tickets cost $15 and can be purchased online or in person. I would definitely plan on visiting in the spring or fall to avoid the summer heat because the outside portion is very open.

Akron Zoo - Akron, Ohio

If you're looking for something to do on a road trip between Canton and Cleveland consider the Akron Zoo. This is a popular tourist attraction in the Akron area and perfect spot for a mid drive break. The Akron Zoo is home to over 2,000 animals including the bald eagles, river otters, and bears. This zoo is very walkable and you can get up close to most of the animals. There are several areas to visit such as Wild Asia and Penguin Point. You can really tell that the property and habitats are well maintained by the amazing staff. One of my favorite parts was feeding the goats in the Pride of Africa experience. You can purchase crackers for $1.00 to feed them. General admission to the Zoo costs between $11 and $21 per person.

House From A Christmas Story - Cleveland, Ohio

Located in Cleveland’s Tremont neighborhood is the House from A Christmas Story. This of course is the famous house from one of the best Christmas movies, A Christmas Story. As soon as you arrive at the house you see the leg lamp in the window and instantly feel like you’re part of the movie. Your visit to A House From A Christmas Story includes a tour of the house with a guide and a separate tour of the museum across the street. Once you get into the house your tour guide will give you some background information about it and the movie. When they are finished you will then have fifteen to twenty minutes to explore on your own. The house is two floors and includes the living room, kitchen, boys room and bathroom. You will have the opportunity to reenact popular parts of the movie such as the bowling ball scene. After your time is up at the house you then head over to the museum. Here you will find more information about the movie and some vehicles as well. Tickets for the house and museum cost $20.00 and can be purchased online or in person.

Rockefeller Park & Greenhouse - Cleveland, Ohio

If you are looking for a free thing to do in Cleveland, consider checking out the Rockefeller Park & Greenhouse. This is a public garden with displays that are inside and outside showing various plant collections. It is part of the Cleveland Public Parks and one of my hidden gems for this trip. There are several indoor and outdoor exhibits including a tropical showcase, indoor water garden, and rose garden. The indoor water garden was a great spot to walk around. It had some really interesting plants and was very relaxing. This park and greenhouse are very accessible by vehicle and there is plenty of parking on site.

Rock and Roll Hall of Fame - Cleveland, Ohio

Next up on this list of things to do is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is one of those places that you will remember forever. It’s a part of Cleveland music history and music history in general. This hall of fame and museum celebrates the various rock and music legends. The main exhibits are on the first floor so start there and work your way up. I really enjoyed the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, as well as the iconic outfit exhibits. The Power of Rock is a great show and I highly suggest checking it out. It shows the thrills of induction night at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The show had me jamming along. There is a lot to take in at the museum so plan on spending three or more hours here. Tickets for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame cost $39.50 for adults.

Goodtime III Sightseeing Cruise - Cleveland, Ohio

Sightseeing tours are a great way to learn a new town or city and the Goodtime III in Cleveland did not let me down. This is something I wish I had done on my first day in Cleveland. Passengers will enjoy a relaxing two hour tour of Cleveland. The tour was very informative and enjoyed some of the best views of the city. The cruise went along the Cuyahoga River before going out into the Cleveland Harbor and past the Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport. It only cost $37 for a ticket which to me was a steal for the value. They do have drinks and food that you can purchase during the tour. There are different types of cruises as well such as the Cleveland Sunset Evening Cruise. Make sure to check the schedule or purchase tickets online because they do operate seasonally.

Tips For Your Trip

• Tickets for most of the things to do on this list can be purchased online or in person. If you want to save time, definitely consider purchasing them online.

• Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Progressive Field and Goodtime III are cashless so plan accordingly.

• Cleveland is very spread out so you really need to plan out what you want to do each day. This is something I struggled with because I like to group things together and walk as much as possible. Driving and ride shares are going to be the best way to get around the city.

• Most of the spots that I went to had onsite parking. Cleveland had plenty of parking garages located around the city. I decided to use a ride share to get around because I wasn’t comfortable driving around the city and had no issues getting rides.
